Matt Vogrich close to committing?

October 5, 2008

Matt Vogrich (SG,6’3″,2009), who has offers from Wake Forest and Miami, apparently has a short list of Michigan, Notre Dame and Stanford, according to the Illinois Prep Bullseye:

Vogrich, meanwhile, is completing an official visit to Michigan this weekend and will choose soon between them, Notre Dame or Stanford.

Looks like the ACC is on the outside looking in for Vogrich, who admittedly has focused his interest elsewhere.

Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes (SF, 6’6″, 2010), who has interest from…well, everybody in the world of basketball recruiting, will be visiting Late Night at Kansas, along with ACC target Dominic Cheek (SG, 6’5″, 2009). Barnes also reportedly has an official visit at Duke lined up.

Boo Williams’ McAdoo Swings Through the ACC

September 23, 2008

James McAdoo (PF, 6’8″, 2011) is big time, already on the big schools’ radar as a sophomore. UCLA and Florida have made no secret that they want the prolific big man, already extending offers according to Scout.

However, this weekend, McAdoo visited the campuses of UNC and Duke (not a bad idea OR difficult given the mere eight mile distance between the two) and will swing through Wake Forest this weekend. Business as usual for Wake, who by some reports was planning to host Noel Johnson (SF, 6’7″, 2009) and got a commitment from Ari Stewart last weekend. Johnson committed to USC, which had seemed to be where he was leaning. I would speculate that Johnson felt getting playing time at Wake might have been difficult with Al Farouq-Aminu and Ari Stewart, if Farouq-Aminu stays for more than one year. He also considered Georgia Tech, but recent moves led him to conclude that USC was the best fit for him.

At any rate, McAdoo, a player from Norfolk, Virginia, seems to really like Duke and UNC, although he does not have offers from them yet. He was on the Chapel Hill campus as was 2010 UNC commit Kendall Marshall.

Ari Stewart picks Wake Forest

September 21, 2008

After narrowing his choices to Wake Forest and Oregon, Ari Stewart (SF, 6’7″, 2009) has decided on the Demon Deacons, joining C.J. Harris in the class of 2009. I think that if Wake was able to keep some of their big time players around for a couple more years, they would be a real powerhouse, but that’s a tall order.

Kenny Boynton setting visits

April 18, 2008

Rivals is reporting that ACC recruit Kenny Boynton has started setting up his visits[Subscription Required].

ACC Schools recruiting Boynton include Duke, Miami, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Florida State, although I’ve heard that Duke is really gunning for him.
Boynton was also just named to the Florida first-team All-State.

I haven’t seen Boynton play in person yet, so I will have to either travel to an event he’s at, get him on film, or fly down to Florida next season.
