DeShawn Painter chooses Florida

May 19, 2008

Scout.com is reporting that DeShawn Painter (6’9″, PF, 2009), who had offers from ACC schools Clemson and Virginia, has chosen the Florida Gators as his school.

Peyton Siva to Louisville

I mentioned a few days ago that Peyton Siva (5’11”, PG, 2009) was one of the point guards offered by Miami but wasn’t considering the Hurricanes, has decided to attend Louisville and is officially ‘off the board’ for the ACC.

Danny McElroy

A note on a player who already commited, Danny McElroy (6’7″, PF, 2009) had agreed to attend Cincinnati but has now backed out and is opening his recruitment back up. No idea if he is considering ACC schools yet.

Miami Recruiting Notes, 2009

May 15, 2008

Miami has come a long way under coach Frank Haith, and with wings and bigs coming in from the Class of 2008, they will have to either develop their point guard play or recruit some playmakers. Without focusing too much on the current roster, Miami’s recruiting has focused a lot on PG, having offered scholarships to John Wall (6’3”), Kenny Boynton (6’2”), Peyton Siva (5’11”), Michael Dixon (6’1”), Mfon Udofia (6’2”), Ben Eblen (6’0”) and Taariq Muhammad (6’2”).

Peyton Siva’s current list has eliminated the Hurricanes, but the offers are telling. Miami is focusing hard on trying to get a good point guard. In state player Kenny Boynton is an elite talent who is often listed as a SG, and Miami really wants him, but they are competing with Duke, Florida and UConn. I don’t think John Wall is even considering Miami. But the context remains the same, Miami’s staff has made it clear that a PG is a huge priority for 2009.
