Lakeem Jackson to South Carolina

July 17, 2008

Lakeem Jackson

Lakeem Jackson (SF, 6’5″, 2009) has decided to play basketball at South Carolina, choosing the Gamecocks over Georgia Tech. Jackson was considered a South Carolina lean, and gives new head coach Darrin Horn his first commitment for the Gamecocks.

Jackson is an athletic, aggressive slashing SF who has a knack for finding the holes in the defense. He’s also a lock down defender who excels in the transition game.

Lakeem Jackson: headed to South Carolina?

July 3, 2008

Lakeem Jackson (SF, 6’5″, 2009), a Charlotte player who has offers from Georgia Tech, Clemson and South Carolina, appears to be leaning toward the Gamecocks and the SEC.

“I know South Carolina’s No. 1 on his list right now,” said Rico Jackson, the player’s oldest brother and mentor. “I think he’ll go ahead and make his decision, if not within the next week, probably when the summer’s out, on his way back to school.”

Here’s a short clip from December showing off Jackon’s high rising dunking ability:

Five ACC Targets You Don’t Know

June 10, 2008

So for every player who gets an actual ACC offer, there are dozens who list ‘interest’ but have no offer. I thought I’d mention five players who have ACC offers and aren’t getting the same attention as the top 10 players.

Sometimes unranked players make big time contributions, and the ACC recruiting radar tends to focus on Duke and UNC.

The very fact that these plays have ACC offers on the table means they should be on your radar:

– Terrence Shannon, (6’6″, PF, 2009)
Has offers from Clemson, Florida State and Georgia Tech

– Glen Rice, Jr. (6’4″, SG, 2009)
Yes, he’s the son of that Glen Rice.
Has offers from Georgia Tech and Miami.

– Torin Walker (6’10”, C, 2009)
Has an offer from Florida State

-Isaiah Philmore (6’7″, SF/PF, 2009)
Has offers from Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech

– Dante Taylor (6’8″, PF, 2009)
Okay, so Taylor is not exactly an off-the-radar player, but I haven’t mentioned him, he seems to be leaning toward Maryland and after the past month, Terp fans need some good news of any kind.

So since Dante Taylor was pretty well known, I’ll add one more:

-Lakeem Jackson (6’5″, SF, 2009)
Another player who is highly thought of but you might not have known that he has an offer from Clemson.
