More from the SSS Showcase; Hoop Group Elite

July 7, 2008

After watching several games in Day 2 of the Style, Substance, Swagger Showcase in Winston-Salem I came away again impressed by several players, including Kameka “Chip” Walls (SG/SF, 6’4″, 2009) a long, fluid player and a likable personality. Walls (North Forsyth HS) has fun while he plays, smiling and chatting, but his game is strong and he is a difference maker. I will follow up with a more in-depth report on Walls game, which has a lot of strengths. I really think Walls has potential.

Justin Parham (PG/SG, 5’9″, 2009) sat out during the games I attended after he twisted a knee, but I saw Jumal McNeal (SG/SF, 6’4″, 2010) of Winston-Salem Prep and Cam Ferguson (SF, 6’4″ 2008 ) from Chapel Hill HS, along with several other players from the Raliegh and Chapel Hill areas. Ferguson was consistent over the two days with spot-up shooting, and he intends to play at D-III Transylvania University in Kentucky.

Also playing were Calvin Gamble (PG, 5’9″, 2009), a fiesty, pure point guard who is interested in Wingate, Winthrop and VCU. Gamble takes defending his man very seriously and has natural quickness and handle, and Krishawn Noble (SF, 6’5″, 2010) a player who runs the court well and has some upside to his game.

Hoop Group Elite

Meanwhile, Alex has a write up on the Hoop Group Elite Camp and has a ton of players to keep up with during this huge event in Philadelphia. A couple of players of note:

Rico Winston (2009) has interest from Clemson, Rakeem Brookins (PG, 5’10”,2010) has interest from Virginia and Clemson, and has a 3.5 GPA.
